Creative freedom realised with our expertise in veneers
There are many timber species suitable for the production
of decorative wood veneers.
Within the Designer Range the specifier has complete
freedom to choose any veneer that is commercially
available. We can help specifiers with selection and provide
samples of veneers and products which are useful during
the project planning stage.
The way in which individual sheets of veneer are cut and
assembled will substantially affect the appearance of the
end product. For ideas on colours and veneer design see our
online veneer selector.
Cutting methods
Veneer finish and protection
To enhance and protect veneered doors and doorsets, we
recommend that they are fully finished with either Hyalux
Natural or Hyalux Tint. Hyalux Natural is a clear polishing system
which gives a durable, lustrous, satin finish emphasising the
veneer grain, while Hyalux Tint offers the specifier a choice of
translucent colours (British Standards or RAL) applied to the
veneer. Alternative finishes can also be provided.
Integral to both the Hyalux Natural and the Hyalux Tint
is the Hygienilac additive. This provides antibacterial
protection against harmful bacteria such as C.diff, MRSA and
Salmonella. Hygienilac works by preventing the bacteria's
access to nutrients so their growth is inhibited and they will
starve and die. It has a kill rate of 99.9 percent over a 24 hour
period and remains effective for the lifetime of the lacquer.
It does not employ silver technology and is completely UV
stable. It is non-carcinogenic, non-mutagenic and non-skin
sensitising. Hygienilac has been independently tested and
verified by laboratories which will endorse the 99.9 percent
kill rate. For further information contact Technical Services.
All veneered doors have hardwood lippings to both vertical
edges softened with a 3mm radius, or alternatively to all
4 edges with top and bottom square edged. Lippings can
either be exposed or concealed as required, to colour
match or contrast with either the veneer or frame.
